Because of Romek # 3

1 It was really hard to believe that he survived everything he went through. It was really amazing that we got to listen to someone from the Holocaust. It was so sad how everyone in his family died and he had to try to survive all by himself.

2 When he escaped from the camp he met up with the partisan guy and he took him to their camp thinking he was a spy but the he told them that he was a Jew and he escaped from a comp. So then they let him prove himself and he tipped over the train with all the German soldiers and their artillery. So then he was staying with them for a while and then the Germans set the forest around them on fire and he was the only survivor. I think that Romek was so proud of his little brother because he always thought of him as his baby brother and he never knew he could do something like that. So I think that he was proud that his brother did something against the Germans.

3 I think that the Gestapo spared David because they thought he would die anyway after a while from starvation. Also because he was too young to know anything about the secret files so they just let him go back to the ghetto. I also think that they thought that he suffered enough watching his brother tortured to death that he should be let free back into the ghetto.

Because of Romek #2

1 I think that David's pet pigeon was special to him because, it was one of the only good things and fun things in his life. It also would give him something to take care of. Also he felt close to it because it gave him a friend.

2 The "vacation camp" was not anywhere near as bad as the concentration camps. Because they at least gave them food and let them take breaks. I think they called it "vacation camp" because they didn't want the prisoners to panic when they heard that it was a prisoner camp. So then they would try to escape from them in the truck.

3 How did you feel when you got taken from your family to the vacation camp?

Because of Romek #1

1. I think that it was interesting that the Nazis would take away the father and any older male in the family so that the family would be weak. I think that is really horrible because most of the time that would be that last time the family saw the father or older male of the family. Also because usually the father earned the money that put the food on the table so then the family would have to try harder to keep their family healthy.

2. David's family seems really close to each other. His family has two boys (including him) and six girls. His family seem religious because they had Bar Mitzvahs and they celebrated shabbat. I also think that his parents really tried to help their kids stay happy during the hard times.

2b. I think that he remembers the early chapters because that was when everything first started going bad so he could really remember everything. I also think that it was really hard on him when all this stuff was happening to him for the first time in his life so it really impacted him a lot.

3. When David rescues his father it really shows how much he loves his father that he will risk his life for him. It also shows that he was really smart because it probably wasn't easy escaping from the Nazis and a lot of people who tried got shot and killed. Like when he knew exactly when to tell his dad when to run away that showed that he was smart.

Project Reflection Mural Project

Project Title: Mural Project

Class: AC Humanities 

PURPOSE:  In this section, explain what you were supposed to learn and what you were supposed to do.

The purpose of this project was to learn about the Aztec religion and their culture. To learn about that Aztecs we had to take notes on the way Aztecs got married, their food, what their punishment was like and how they had human sacrifices. Then we had to plan our mural with our groups. We had to put Aztec designs on our mural so we learned what their designs looked like. We also had to create our mural by painting it on a big canvas.

 

WHAT I LEARNED

I learned how to find notes. I also learned about the human sacrifices of the Aztecs. They had human sacrifices because they believed that their chief god needed to have human blood to survive. In this project, I learned how to paint and how to make an artist statement. I also got better at working in a group because my group was really good we were always on task and we still had fun. Our mural shows how the Aztecs sacrificed humans.

I enjoyed this project because my group was really focused and we still had fun. It was also fun because we worked together and had no problems so that made us finish first because we were ahead of everyone else. I think that we did a really good job on this project because our painting looks a lot like the real Aztec murals. I also think we did well with all the colors because we tried to use colors that the Aztecs would use.
